LIBERAL ARTS ad hoc MAJOR
with specialization in
BIOLOGY
or ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

Department of Natural Sciences, Baruch College, CUNY

The Liberal Arts ad hoc major with specialization in Biology has the objective of guiding students towards excellence and professional competence in the fields of life sciences, chemistry, environmental sciences, and medical and health care programs.  Students combine courses in biology, chemistry, and physics as preparation for graduate study and research, for training in medicine and other health related professions, and for teaching biology, chemistry and general science.  The courses also serve non-degree students who enter the program to fulfill the requirements for a change in career.  Among graduates of the program are research scientists, teachers, doctors, dentists, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors, physicians' assistants, and laboratory technicians.  Full-time faculty teach lectures and laboratories in all courses above the 1000 level.  Honors and Independent guidance.
